WRD Inaugural Groundwater Academy

Water Replenishment District’s Groundwater Academy provides a comprehensive understanding of groundwater management and conservation. Tailored for elected officials and regional stakeholders, the three-session program offers site visits, expert-led presentations, and networking opportunities. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, recognizing their commitment to safeguarding groundwater resources and acquire the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed choices regarding groundwater management in their communities.

Sessions will take place on the last Friday of each month April-June. 

Program Overview:

  • Session 1: Friday, Apr. 26 from 10:00am-12:30pm: Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts Tour of the San Jose Creek Water Reclamation Plant showcasing the first step in water’s journey after it leaves the tap and learn about recycled water
    • Meet at WRD Albert Robles Center for Water Recycling and Environmental Learning (ARC) at 4320 San Gabriel River Pkwy, Pico Rivera, CA 90660

 

  • Session 2: Friday, May 31 from 10:00am-12:30pm: WRD Leo J. Vander Lans Advanced Water Treatment Facility showcasing advanced treated recycled water.
    • Meet at Water Replenishment District Headquarters at 4040 Paramount Blvd, Lakewood, CA 90712

 

  • Session 3: Friday, June 28 from 10:00am-12:30pm: Maximizing Water Resources: Innovative Approaches to Replenishment, Capture, and Treatment in Los Angeles County
    • Meet at WRD Albert Robles Center for Water Recycling and Environmental Learning (ARC) at 4320 San Gabriel River Pkwy, Pico Rivera, CA 90660

Shuttles will be provided to transport to site visits and lunch will be provided.
