WRD Climate Resiliency Plan Workshops

The Water Replenishment District (WRD) is developing a district-wide Climate Resiliency Plan to assess the potential impacts of climate change on facilities and operations. The plan will identify strategies for mitigation and adaptation, serving as a long-term guide to help WRD reduce risk and build resilience across its systems.

To ensure the Climate Resiliency Plan reflects the priorities and goals of the region, WRD invites groundwater pumpers, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders across the Central and West Coast Basins to participate. Your input will help shape strategies that protect local groundwater and build climate resilience.

Join us for interactive workshops to:

  • Learn about WRD’s Climate Resiliency Plan and its impact on operations and communities.
  • Provide feedback on draft strategies for climate adaptation and mitigation.
  • Collaborate on solutions that strengthen water resiliency for the region.

Climate Resiliency Plan: Background & Key Documents

Background:

The Water Replenishment District (WRD) is developing a district-wide Climate Resiliency Plan to assess how climate change may impact its facilities, operations, and groundwater systems and to identify strategies that strengthen resilience across WRD’s service area.

This plan will serve as a long-term roadmap to help WRD reduce climate-related risks, adapt to changing conditions, protect local groundwater supplies, and support reliable water service for the communities it serves. The Climate Resiliency Plan will also enhance WRD’s competitiveness for climate and infrastructure funding.

Community- and Pumper-Informed Planning

WRD is committed to a transparent and inclusive planning process that actively involves groundwater pumpers and community-based organizations. Through a series of workshops and engagement activities, WRD is gathering input to help shape resiliency strategies that reflect:

  • Regional and local priorities
  • Operational considerations for groundwater management
  • Community perspectives on climate impacts and adaptation

Feedback received during workshops will be documented and used to refine the draft Climate Resiliency Plan. Follow-up sessions will provide participants with opportunities to see how their input informed the final strategies.

Key Documents

All materials are provided to support informed participation and ensure transparency throughout the planning process.
