Congresswoman Linda Sanchez Provides Funding For Critical Water Study

Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (D-Lakewood) recently presented the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council a $250,000 check for a crucial stormwater run-off study. Congresswoman Sanchez was joined by Congresswomen Grace Napolitano (D-Santa Fe Springs) and Diane Watson (D-Los Angeles), representatives from the Water Replenishment District of Southern California, environmental organizations and public agencies to discuss the study and state-of-the-art designs that will allow rain and stormwater run-off to naturally percolate into local aquifers instead of flowing into storm drains and the ocean.

Along with the coalition of Los Angeles area congressional members, Congresswoman Sanchez led the charge to obtain the appropriation of federal funding for this critical study that will benefit the Los Angeles and San Gabriel River basins. The funding supplied for this study will allow the Watershed Council to look at innovative environmentaly friendly ways to capture the region's stormwater.
