Educational Partnerships

The Water Replenishment District of Southern California (WRD) implemented its Educational Partnership Program in 2001 in an effort to broaden its water education efforts throughout south Los Angeles County. WRD, which celebrated its 50th Anniversary in November, 2009, manages two of the most utilized groundwater basins in Southern California. The agency provides more than a third of the water used by the nearly four million people, or 10% of the state's population, living within the District's boundaries.

The Educational Partnership Program provides water education programs through the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro. The WRD web site (www.wrd.org) provides free educational materials for teachers and parents to use in the classroom and at home.
