Albert RoblesAlbert Robles presently serves as Board Director. He was first elected in 1992 and is the youngest Director ever elected to the WRD Board of Directors. He also bears the distinction of being the most senior member serving on the Board. He is Chair of the External Affairs and Groundwater Quality Committees.
Director Robles attended local public schools from kindergarten through high school. He graduated from high school with honors and received a scholarship to attend the University of Colorado. During his undergraduate studies, he studied abroad at universities in both Latin America and Europe. He received a B.A. from the University of Colorado and double-majored in Political Science and Latin American Studies.
In addition, Director Robles has a Master's Degree from the University of Southern California, where he was a USC Merit Scholarship recipient and presently serves as a mentor for other USC graduate students. He also served as a United States Congressional Fellow in Washington, D.C. and received a Jurist Doctorate Degree at the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law.
Director Robles' professional experiences include working at one of the country's most prestigious law firms, teaching business law at the local college, working as a Community Affairs Manager for one of the world's largest recycling companies, serving as the General Manager of a joint powers authority, and working as a Staff Assistant to a Member of Congress. In addition, Director Robles has served on the board of directors of a non-profit organization and has received numerous certificates of appreciation and recognition from civic, community, and business organizations for his involvement in community service activities.
Director Robles represents Division Five, which includes the cities of Bellflower, Carson, Compton, Downey, La Habra Heights, Norwalk, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, and Whittier.
